UEFA appoint referee for Barcelona's Champions League game against BATE

We officially have a whistle-blower for Barcelona's next game.

UEFA have announced the officials for the Champions League encounter between BATE Borisov and Barcelona on Tuesday night in Belarus. Manuel Jorge Sousa will be the man in charge. The 40-year-old Portuguese man is a FIFA referee since 2006, yet is an unexperienced referee when it comes to European Cup games.

He's a regular at Europa League matches, having officiated eight just last season, including knockout stage matches involving important teams like Everton and Zenit. However, he'll only referee his fifth match in Champions League competition, and this will be just his second group stage game in UEFA's biggest tournament.
