What was your favorite moment of the Champions League this week? Was it Paris St.-Germain putting five past Club Bruges, away from home? Maybe you were delighted by just how easily Manchester City swatted aside Atalanta, or perhaps you were enthralled by just how many goals Tottenham could score against Red Star Belgrade. It probably would not have been Liverpool’s win at Genk: after all, the reigning European champions only scored four. A disappointing night’s work, really.
This is nothing new, of course. Nobody goes to the Champions League group stages for tension or drama or even, really, finely-poised matchups between Europe’s best teams.
