Toluca defeated Chivas by a 2-1 score in a match that was marred by a controversial decision. Chivas looked to have taken an early lead but a goal was disallowed for offside and held on by VAR even when replays looked to have shown it be onside. Chivas was at times the better team and the controversy as well as bad luck caused them to had a worse result that they deserved. Chivas will return home to face Pachuca while Toluca will travel north to face FC Juarez.
