Tigres survived a thrilling encounter at Ciudad Universitaria as Ricardo Ferretti's side beat Pumas UNAM 4-2 on penalties to win the 2015 Liga MX Apertura.
After the first leg ended 3-0 in favor of Tigres, the second leg was played in stunning fashion. Eduardo Herrera scored the first of three Pumas goals in the 45th minute, but Andre-Pirre Gignac scored in the first extra-time period to give Tigres the lead. Gerardo Alcoba then equalized for Pumas in the second extra time period before Tigres eventually conquered their fourth league title on penalties.
It took Pumas 45 minutes to get on the board when a nice attacking move from a breakaway led to Eduardo Herrera slotting behind Nahuel Guzman to give the hosts a 1-0 lead.
