Tigres beat Chivas 1-0 to be named Campeón de Campeones

Eduardo Vargas’ second half goal sealed a 1-0 win for Tigres, as the 2016 Apertura champions were crowned Campeón de Campeones over Chivas on Sunday. For Tigres, this marks their second consecutive Campeón de Campeones, after beating Pachuca by the same scoreline last season.

From the start, it was Chivas who looked more friendly with the ball, but as was often the case last season, when the Rebaño failed to turn their early possession into goals the nerves set in and the other team started to take advantage.

Chivas’ mood darkened further when Oswaldo Alanis and Jose Juan “Gallito” Vazquez pulled up with injuries and had to be replaced.
