Following a two-week international break that saw 19 of their players in action, Barcelona Femení returned to action last Sunday. It was supposed to be a very tough match against the second best team in the Primera División, Real Sociedad.
There was quite a bit of pre-match buzz that this could be the first upset of the season for the reigning champs, especially coming off an international break where so many players were in action all over the world against a very good team.
And it certainly started that way, with Sociedad fighting Barça for possession early on and responding to Fridolina Rölfo’s opening goal with a 10th minute equalizer from Franssi.
