Former Sevilla goalkeeper Tomas Vaclik has revealed that Barcelona were interested in signing him after Marc-Andre ter Stegen’s injury but opted for Wojciech Szczu0119sny instead.
Ter Stegen was ruled out for the long term in September after sustaining a serious knee injury that required surgery.
The injury put Barcelona in the market for a new goalkeeper and Vaclik, who has played for a host of clubs including Sparta Prague, Basel, Sevilla, Olympiacos and Huddersfield in his career, was apparently an option.
Here’s what he had to say:
“I was approached by Barcelona to replace Ter Stegen, but in the end they chose Szczesny,” he told TVP Sport.
