Union fans protested the team's front office but ended up celebrating a victory on an up-and-down Sunday, writes Ives Galarcep.
CHESTER, Pa.—You will have a hard time finding a match day with as much a disparity between the a beginning and ending as we saw at PPL Park on Sunday.
On a beautiful and sunny day for the latest installment of the Philadephia Union-D.C. United rivalry, Union supporters gathered before the match to express their unhappiness with the direction of the team. A large sign reading ‘Union Fans Deserve Better’ hung above the throng of fans who marched toward their team’s stadium carrying a coffin they wanted to symbolize the demise of the front office they blamed for their team’s struggles.
