Alejandro Balde’s agent, Jorge Mendes, has claimed the “best clubs in Europe” all wanted to sign the left-back before he signed a new contract with Barcelona.
The defender extended his contract last year and is now committed to the Catalan giants until 2028. The deal includes a buyout clause set at €1 billion.
Mendes says that Barcelona could have sold Balde and made a large profit before deciding to keep him at the club for the long term.
“What I can say is that before renewing with Barça, the best clubs in Europe wanted him and Barça knows that, so there is no doubt for any of them,” he told Mundo Deportivo.
