Tecatito Corona wins CONCACAF Goal of the Year

The Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF) has awarded Mexico national team forward Jesus Manuel “Tecatito” Corona the 2016 Goal of the Year.

The goal scored by the former Rayados man was selected above Eduardo Herrera’s bicycle kick against Honduras Progreso and Alexander Larin’s strike against New York Red Bulls.

Tecatito scored the goal in the closing moments of El Tri’s final group stage game against Venezuela in the Copa America Centenario. In Messi-esque fashion, Tecatito evaded a total of five defenders before firing in the Mexican equalizer.

In the category of CONCACAF Male Player of the Year, fellow Mexico national team forward Hirving Lozano finished second behind Costa Rican Bryan Ruiz.
