Sunderland have announced reaching ‘amicable terms’ with Didier Ndong as he departs the club.
The 24-year-old’s contract was terminated last month despite returning to the Stadium of Light after going AWOL.
In August 2016, the midfielder joined the Black Cats in a club-record fee of £13.6 million from French Ligue 1 side Lorient and made 49 appearances for the side.
On Thursday, the League One side re-affirmed that the Gabonese ‘is no longer an employee of the club’ and they will receive compensation when he signs for a new club.
“Sunderland AFC has reached an agreement with Didier Ndong for his departure on amicable terms,” read a statement from club website.
