Spurs face £12M fee to rename local station after club

The Premier League club will have to dig deep if it wishes to rename the London Overground station

Tottenham Hotspur has reportedly been told to pay an eye-watering 12 million pounds ($14.7M) to rename White Hart Lane station after the club.

It is believed the Premier League club wants to rename the London Overground station "Tottenham Hotspur Station" to coincide with the planned opening of its new £400M ($488.2M) stadium in 2018.

The station is just a few minutes’ walk from the site of the new 61,000-seat venue and Spurs are keen that it remains strongly identified with the club, particularly as there are plans for a walkway that will lead directly to the ground.
