Sports Briefing | Soccer: Former FIFA Vice President Reynald Temarii Is Barred

In a ruling that could lead to the downfall of more high-level soccer officials, FIFA barred Reynald Temarii, one of its former vice presidents, for eight years for taking money from Mohamed bin Hammam, one of the key backers of Qatar’s successful World Cup bid.

Also Wednesday, the Asian Football Confederation suspended General Secretary Alex Soosay in connection with allegations that he ordered a cover-up during a 2012 investigation into the organization involving bin Hammam.
