Eugenio Figueredo, a former president of Conmebol, which oversees soccer in South America, was jailed pending trial in his native Uruguay after being extradited from Switzerland to answer charges in the FIFA corruption scandal. Figueredo, 83, one of seven top FIFA officials arrested at a Zurich hotel in May, faces two to 15 years in prison if convicted. The United States is also seeking to extradite Figueredo.
