His side may have failed to score in the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals, but the Atletico Madrid boss was still proud.
Diego Simeone said he could not fault his players, as Atletico Madrid bowed out at the hands of Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League for a second straight season.
Simeone's men lost 1-0 on aggregate to their city rivals, after going down by the same score in the second leg at the Santiago Bernabeu on Wednesday. Javier Hernandez's 88th-minute goal saw Real, which trumped Atleti in last season's Champions League final, advance without the requirement of extra time, although Atletico was left to rue the sending off of Arda Turan 12 minutes earlier.
