Toronto FC star Sebastian Giovinco criticized the surface at his club's BMO Field after Saturday's game, saying a player is injured every game.
Giovinco scored twice to guide Toronto to a 3-1 win over the Montreal Impact, but left the game in the 72nd minute after appearing to aggravate a groin injury.
Toronto uses a natural grass field but often adds sand to help mitigate the affects of heavy use, particularly from the Toronto Argonauts in the Canadian Football League.
"We continue to put sand on the grass," Giovinco said. "The Argos play, TFC 2 plays.
