The 29-year-old Italian will miss multiple games as Toronto FC chases the top spot in the Eastern Conference and the Supporters' Shield.

Toronto FC announced Monday that star forward Sebastian Giovinco will miss four weeks with strains in his quadriceps and adductor.

Giovinco suffered the injuries in the second half of Saturday's 1-0 defeat to the Montreal Impact at BMO Field. He was subbed out of the game in the 67th minute and was helped to the locker room by the club's training staff.

The reigning MLS MVP has been making a case for winning the award again in 2016, tying for the MLS lead in goals with 16 and sitting in second place with 13 assists.
