It was 1-1 at the break, after Mertens opened the scoring and Haaland equalised from the penalty spot. Mertens scored his second on 64 minutes, but Haaland once again levelled the scoreline for the hosts, with a powerful header. However, Napoli went back ahead less than a minute later, as Salzburg switched off at the back and Insigne punished them, to make it 3-2.
