Frenkie de Jong has spoken out after it was confirmed he will miss Euro 2024 due to an ankle injury sustained while playing for Barcelona against Real Madrid.
The Dutch midfielder had been expected to be fit in time for this summer’s big tournament in Germany, but it’s now been confirmed he will miss out.
De Jong has spoken of his disappointment in a post on Instagram.
“I’m sad and disappointed that I won’t make it to the EC. We’ve been doing a lot of it the past few weeks, but my ankle needs more time unfortunately,” he posted.
