Wayne Rooney netted a goal to help England to a 6-0 win over San Marino that seals their place at Euro 2016 next year.
Rooney, 29, had been on 48 goals for his country, one behind Sir Bobby Charlton, but the Manchester United striker slotted home a first half penalty after a dubious handball decision to equal the record.
The striker almost doubled his tally soon after but the cross that almost found him in the box was diverted into his own net off the head of defender Cristian Brolli.
England struggled on a bobbly surface and could not add to the scoreline before the break, but it took just a few seconds for them to make it 3-0 after half-time.
