The defender, who is gay, returned to the pitch for the LA Galaxy's USL side and says he experienced abuse directed at him for the first time since coming out.
LA Galaxy left back Robbie Rogers made his return to the soccer pitch in a rehab start with LA Galaxy II on Saturday and alleges a player on the opposing team directed verbal abuse in his direction in the match's closing stages.
In a Facebook post published Sunday, Rogers alleges he was repeatedly called "queer" in the latter portion of the match with the OC Blues. Rogers came out as gay in 2013 and retired from the sport but eventually made his return with the Galaxy later that year.
