For the second straight season, River Plate has claimed the Recopa Sudamericana crown with a 2-1 win on Thursday night over Santa Fe.
Thursday featured the second and final leg of the competition. Santa Fe, last year's Copa Sudamericana champion, and River Plate, the winner of the Copa Libertadores, battled to a goalless draw last week.
River Plate, which hosted the second leg, quickly ensured there would not be a repeat of the first leg as Sebastian Driussi put the Argentines up 1-0 in the third minute.
After a quick free kick, the ball was worked down the left wing to Gonzalo Martinez, who meandered close to the edge of his Colombian opponents' box.
