Barcelona midfielder Gavi didn’t feature at all on Wednesday against Atletico Madrid in the Copa del Rey semi-final win.
Hansi Flick opted to line up with Frenkie de Jong, Pedri and Fermin Lopez against Diego Simeone’s side but, perhaps surprisingly, didn’t even use Gavi off the bench.
According to RAC1, there is a reason for the midfielder’s omission and it’s not the greatest news.
The report claims Gavi didn’t feature at all “because he felt a slight discomfort in his right knee while warming up.”
The discomfort was in the same knee which was operated on recently, meaning he was not used as “a precaution” and given the night off.
