Real's unlikely hero

Tuesday's top-of-Group A Champions League clash at the Santiago Bernabeu was won by the home side via a single goal from the unlikeliest of sources in substitute Nacho. Paris Saint-Germain will feel as though they should have at least left with honours, even after a lacklustre performance from Real Madrid and 60 percent possession for the Ligue 1 champions.

Rafa Benitez made two changes from the weekend's Liga win over Las Palmas, with Keylor Navas and Sergio Ramos coming into the XI in another variation on the manager's 4-3-3 as Real await several injury returns. Marcelo joined that list in the first half after Marco Verratti limped off for PSG, and although a scrappy opening 45 minutes went the Parisians' way, Real led at the break.
