Real Madrid have issued a statement amid allegations Barcelona star Lamine Yamal was the subject of racist abuse at the Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday night.

Yamal scored in a 4-0 win for the visitors, becoming the youngest player ever to score in the famous fixture between the two rivals.

However, videos on social media have been circulating that appear to show fans hurling racist insults at Yamal, leading to a response from Los Blancos.

“Real Madrid strongly condemns any type of behaviour involving racism, xenophobia or violence in football and sport, and deeply regrets the insults uttered by a few fans last night in one of the corners of the stadium,” read a club statement

“Real Madrid has opened an investigation to locate and identify the perpetrators of these regrettable and despicable insults, in order to adopt the appropriate disciplinary and judicial measures.
