Real Madrid defence falls apart

In what seemed an easy draw for the quarterfinal round of the UEFA Champions League, an extremely poor performance at the Volkswagen Arena left Real Madrid with a mountain to climb next week at the Santiago Bernabeu. With below-par displays from most of the back four, Zinedine Zidane's team lost 2-0 to a Wolfsburg side that had won just three of their past 15 matches in the Bundesliga.

After kickoff, Madrid played 15 authoritative minutes, but then struggled to stop the hosts' Julian Draxler, who was his team's architect in building a 2-0 lead before half-time. The Madridistas never found their rhythm after that, and failed to leverage Gareth Bale's impressive form of late.
