Rayados crowned as Monterrey’s best as they beat Tigres 1-0 in Clásico Regio

Monterrey had an almost copycat game of the first ever Clasico Regio in Estadio BBVA Bancomer as they beat Tigres 1-0 on a goal by Cesar Montes.

Like their first Clasico played in that stadium (which ended 1-0 on a free kick headed in by Efrain Juarez), they won on a second half goal scored by a Mexican player off a set piece when Montes was wide open and kicked a ball into the back of the net.

The win elevates Monterrey to second place and severely hurts the chances of Tigres, who clearly suffered from the absence of Argentinean Guido Pizarro, who got a broken nose in the first leg of the CONCACAF Champions League final.
