It was another frustrating start to Chivas' Liga MX season as the Rebaño Sagrado suffered 1-0 defeat to Pumas UNAM at the Estadio Universitario on Sunday.
A Jair Pereira own goal was all the Universitarios needed, after Carlos Alberto "Gullit" Peña missed a penalty at the death.
The game failed to live up to expectations, with both sides lacking a genuine cutting edge in the final third of the pitch. The game did, however, serve as the debut of new Pumas coach Juan Francisco Palencia, along with new signings Abraham Gonzalez and Saul Berjon. On the other hand, Matias Almeyda sought consistency by repeating the same team that won the SuperCopa MX title last week.
