Cavalry FC made history by defeating Pumas by a 2-1 score in the first leg of their first round series. The win made Cavalry FC the first Canadian Premier League winner over a Liga MX team ever. Pumas came out with an alternate squad and suffered greatly with the cold climate in Starlight Stadium. The return leg will be played in a week, on February 13th in Estadio Olimpico Universitario.

The 1st half started with the debut at Pumas of goalkeeper Alex Padilla. The match started very physical with a lot of fouls and while Pumas had more possession, they couldn’t break thru an organized defense from Cavalry.
