Pumas qualified to the Quarterfinals of the CONCACAF Champions Cup after getting a 1-1 tie in the away match against Alajuelense. Pumas bounced back from a poor 1st half with a very good 2nd half that allow them to get the tie which came after a 2-0 victory at home in the first leg. Pumas will now face off in the Quarterfinals against surprising Vancouver Whitecaps, who eliminated Monterrey. As expected Alajuelense will go home, being the last non North American team in the competition.
The 1st half started with Pumas coming out with two forwards up top in Guillermo Martinez and Rogelio Funes Mori, a surprising thing for an away match.
