The log arrived in Columbus on Saturday, two days after setting off on a cross-country journey from Portland.
COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Portland Timbers victory log, a staple of the team's home games, has made its way to Columbus.
The log was loaded onto a semi truck in Portland on Thursday, and arrived in Columbus on Saturday — just in time for the Timbers to face the Crew in Sunday's MLS Cup.
When the Timbers score a goal at home, the team's mascot, Timber Joey, uses his chainsaw to saw off a slab of wood — which is presented to the player at the end of the game.
