Only two players were selected in the second stage of the MLS re-entry draft Thursday, with Kevin Alston headed to Orlando City and Jermaine Taylor taken by the Portland Timbers.
A quiet start to the MLS offseason continued Thursday, with just two players selected in the second stage of the re-entry draft — easily the least activity in the mechanism's six-year history.
Orlando City selected fullback Kevin Alston with the seventh pick and the Portland Timbers tabbed center back Jermaine Taylor with the 20th selection, while the other 18 MLS clubs passed.
Alston, 27, has spent his entire seven-year MLS career with the New England Revolution, making 148 regular season appearances and earning All-Star honors in 2010.
