Last week, Liverpool reportedly made an offer to sign Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Alex Teixeira. The Reds had submitted a €32m offer for the 26-year-old, but the Ukrainian club are seeking closer to €50m for the Brazilian.
Teixeira has been on top of Chelsea’s wish-lit for sometime now, and the London club were considering making a move for him in the January transfer window.
Liverpool’s chief executive Ian Ayre flew to Florida last week to hold a discussion with the Shakhtar officials over a possible move.
The Reds are told to improve their offer, but the general feeling around the Liverpool camp is that a deal could be reached within this month.
