Pedri tipped to play for Barcelona against Real Sociedad

Pedri has only just jetted back into Barcelona after winning silver with Spain at the Tokyo Olympics but is expected to play some part of the Catalans’ La Liga opener on Sunday against Real Sociedad.

The teenager played an eye-watering 73 games last season for club and country but will be thrust back into action at the Camp Nou, according to both Sport and Mundo Deportivo.

Injuries to Frenkie de Jong and Gavi, and Ilaix Moriba’s contract standoff, mean Ronald Koeman is short of midfielders for Sunday’s match which means Pedri could start or be used off the bench.
