SAINT-DENIS, France -- When was the last time France cried tears of joy?
Little Dimitri Payet came off the field at a jubilant Stade de France in injury time, moments after scoring the winning goal in a 2-1 triumph over Romania, a curling, 89th-minute rocket into the top corner from well outside the box. It was the sort of goal that a child might see in his dreams. Payet was then substituted by Didier Deschamps, now more a conductor of electricity than a coach, to a thunderous ovation. Before Payet could make it to the bench, he was crying.
