The soap opera is finally over, and the Spanish Cup deciding match now has a venue.
The Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) announced on Monday that the Vicente Calderón Stadium, home of La Liga giants Atlético Madrid, has been chosen to host the Copa del Rey Final between Barcelona and Sevilla, on May 22. After weeks of uncertainty, an official decision has finally been made, and the final will be played in La Capital.
However, both clubs were pushing for the game to happen at the other major Madrid stadium, the Santiago Bernabéu, home of Real Madrid, but Los Blancos blocked the move from the start and even scheduled a Bruce Springsteen concert on May 21st to avoid any chances of the match being played at their ground.
