Joan Laporta has been confirmed as Barcelona’s new president after beating Toni Freixa and Victor Font in Sunday’s election.
The 58-year-old, who was the hot favorite to replace the departed Josep Maria Bartomeu, collected 57.63% of the vote, finishing ahead of Font on 31.84% and Freixa on 9.13%.
It is of course the second time that Laporta has been elected president, having previously been at the helm of the club between 2003-2010.
Laporta wasted no time celebrating his victory and is already thinking about Wednesday’s trip to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.
