The saddest moment of Barcelona's 6-0 victory over Deportivo Alavés on Saturday was the injury to full-back Aleix Vidal, who hurt his ankle in gruesome fashion after a challenge from Alavés defender Theo Hernández in the 85th minute of the match.
Barcelona released a statement a few hours after the game, confirming our worst fears: Vidal will be out for a long time.
Vidal was taken to a hospital in Vitoria, where it was confirmed that he had dislocated his right ankle, an injury which required an operation to reduce the swelling. He is expected to be out for five months.
