OFFICIAL: Barcelona sign Luuk De Jong from Sevilla

It’s official: Barcelona have signed 31-year-old striker Luuk De Jong from Sevilla on a season-long loan deal that was completed on Deadline Day, the club announced on Wednesday. Barça will not pay a loan fee but they will take De Jong’s wages and there is a buy option on the deal.

De Jong joins Barça in what has turned into a crazy Deadline Day for the Catalan giants, who tried to sign Edinson Cavani from Manchester United and João Félix from Atlético Madrid before finally finding a striker in the Dutch international.

Ronald Koeman coached De Jong with the Netherlands and has been in favor of the move since the beginning, and Luuk will not only be the new striker in the ranks but will also replace Antoine Griezmann who has returned to his former club Atlético Madrid in the biggest deal of Deadline Day.
