Official: Alex Grimaldo Signs For SL Benfica

It's all change at FC Barcelona B; following the announcement of a couple of new signings yesterday, the club announced a high-profile departure this morning, as club captain and Catalan full-back, Alejandro Grimaldo has officially put pen to paper on a four-year deal at SL Benfica. The Lisbon giants have paid €1.5 million to secure his services, while the Blaugrana will retain a share of the profits from any future sale. At present, the exact percentage has not been disclosed.

For years, Grimaldo has been tipped to make a breakthrough for the senior squad and establish himself as a starting full-back for his boyhood club, but due to a combination of injury and the signing of Jordi Alba, Grimaldo's path to the first team has been blocked, hence this decision to try his luck overseas.
