Niko Kovac has revealed he’s already chatted with Barcelona boss Hansi Flick about the prospect of meeting in the Champions League this season.
That’s now become a reality, with Dortmund due to face Barcelona in the quarter-finals, meaning Kovac will come up against a familiar face.
Flick worked as an assistant coach at Bayern Munich under Kovac before taking over the hotseat and guiding the Bavarians to the treble.
Here’s what Kovac thinks of coming up against his former colleague.
“I spoke to Hansi Flick for his birthday and we joked about the possibility of facing each other in the Champions League,” he told Sky Sport Germany.
