New York Red Bulls sign Aaron Long to MLS deal

The reigning USL Defender of the Year has made a permanent move from Red Bulls II to the first team.

The New York Red Bulls have signed reigning USL Defender of the Year Aaron Long to an MLS contract, the club announced Wednesday.

Marsch compelled to revamp Red Bulls

Long, 24, spent the 2016 preseason on trial with New York before signing a deal with Red Bulls II, making 22 appearances for the USL champions.

"We are pleased to add Aaron to our MLS roster," Red Bulls coach Jesse Marsch said in a news release.
