New York City FC fires Jason Kreis after one season

The former RSL boss joined NYCFC after the 2013 MLS campaign, and then sat out a full season to get his chance to coach NYCFC

New York City FC has announced it has fired head coach Jason Kreis after one season in charge of the team.

Kreis was brought to NYCFC after a successful run as head coach of Real Salt Lake, but the club has unceremoniously axed the 42-year-old after the team's inaugural season in Major League Soccer.

A club statement read: "Prior to the start of the season, it was agreed with the coaching team that securing of a playoff place was an appropriate target for this year.
