New York City F.C. fired Coach Jason Kreis on Monday, laying the blame for a forgettable inaugural season in Major League Soccer on him and his staff.
Kreis’s team won only 10 of its 34 games (with 17 losses and seven draws) despite having the league’s third-highest payroll, and it was eliminated from playoff contention with two games remaining in the regular season.
N.Y.C.F.C. also finished behind the league’s other expansion team, Orlando City, in the Eastern Conference standings and was swept in three games against its New York-area rival, the Red Bulls.
