There is some more good news for FC Barcelona in the Negreira case. After a court ruled they would not face bribery charges, another decision has ruled that Barcelona’s president and board members serving from 2003 to 2010 will not face any criminal liability.
The “Negreira case” refers to payments made by the club to José María Enríquez Negreira, who was at the time a refereeing official. Barcelona and Negreira both said the payments were legal. But prosecutors and some sections of the media have alleged corruption and bribery.
Still, prosecutors admit they do not have evidence of match-fixing.
