Club America and Necaxa settled for a 1-1 draw at the Estadio Victoria on Tuesday night.
Las Aguilas were playing their first game of the post Ignacio Ambriz era after the Mexican manager and the club parted ways last weekend.
Even with an interim manager in charge, Las Aguilas were quick to take the lead in Aguascalientes when Paolo Goltz headed home from a set-piece.
As expected, Necaxa approached the game in a much more positive frame of mind after conceding, and Edson Puch earned his side a penalty just before the half. The same Puch stepped up and converted to put things at 1-1 heading into the break.
