Manchester United's Morgan Schneiderlin has been called up to join France's UEFA Euro 2016 squad after Olympique Marseille's Lassana Diarra dropped out because of injury.
L'Equipe (h/t Bleacher Report's Jonathan Johnson) confirmed the news on Tuesday.
Per the report, Diarra suffered an injury to his left knee. The 31-year-old enjoyed a fine first season back in France with Marseille, making the Ligue 1 team of the year, per French Football Daily. ESPN Fc's Michael Yokhin thinks Schneiderlin might be an improvement, however:
It might be heartbreaking for Lassana Diarra to miss out in such a way, but I think France are actually better without him.
