Monterrey had a difficult time adapting to the game in the beginning but then turned things around enough to beat Forge FC in the first leg of the CONCACAF Champions Cup. However, do not be fooled by the scoreline as Forge battled the whole 90 minutes and if they would have put away their chances the result would have been different. The teams will meet again for the second leg this time in Monterrey.
The first few minutes were jarring for Monterrey as Forge hit them hard as soon as the game started. The visitors were able to sniff out any initial attacks, but it was evident they were uncomfortable early on.
