In a classic tale of two halves, Vancouver saw chances go begging in the first half before Sporting Kansas City struck just after the break to claim the spoils.
VANCOUVER – Homecomings tend to be joyous occasions, for the most part. Vancouver Whitecaps FC were keen to make Sunday night one of those occasions after a lengthy five-game road trip. Unfortunately, Sporting Kansas City had other ideas.
In what was reminiscent of Whitecaps defeats of recent times, the Blue and White succumbed to a second-half header from Sporting KC defender Kevin Ellis in a 1-0 defeat at a sold-out BC Place, despite creating numerous first-half opportunities to take the lead.
