The former Montreal Impact center back will lead the North American Soccer League side, which will begin play next year.
Alessandro Nesta has been appointed as head coach of new NASL side Miami FC.
The club was founded in May this year and is set to debut in 2016.
Having recently revealed its first badge, Miami FC has unveiled its first head coach, with ex-AC Milan and Montreal Impact defender Nesta taking over.
The appointment comes as the three-time Serie A champion and World Cup-winning center back's first job as a head coach.
In joining Miami, Nesta is teaming up with a former Milan and Italy teammate Paolo Maldini, who is co-owner of the club.
